Cast Iron Drain and Sewer Pipes

Tough and quiet, but it rusts from the inside after many decades. Common in homes built before the 1980s.

Cast iron was the standard for drain and sewer pipes for generations. It is strong, fire-resistant and quiet, which is why many mid-century homes still have it. Over time, rust builds up inside and the bottom of horizontal runs corrodes, eventually causing slow drains, leaks and odors.

Cast iron can last several decades, sometimes 50 to 100 years, depending on conditions. We can clean it, line it or replace failed sections with modern PVC or ABS, guided by a camera inspection of its actual condition.
