Galvanized Steel Drain Pipes

Zinc-coated steel that was common in older homes. It corrodes and clogs, and replacement is usually the answer.

Galvanized steel pipe was used for water supply and small drain and vent lines in many homes built before the 1960s. The zinc coating protects the steel for a time, but it wears off, and rust and mineral buildup form inside.

Galvanized drains clog easily because corrosion makes the walls rough and narrow the opening. Cleaning may help briefly, but the long-term fix is replacement with PVC, ABS or copper, depending on the line. We replace in stages to fit your budget and minimize wall and ceiling damage.
